Dental implants, planned before they are placed

An implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a lost tooth. A crown, bridge or full-arch restoration is then made on top. Every implant starts with an examination and X-ray.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is placed in the jawbone and fuses with it over time, a process called osseointegration. Once integrated, it supports a crown, a bridge or a full-arch restoration. Unlike a bridge, it does not require grinding down the neighbouring teeth; unlike a removable denture, it does not move.

From a single tooth to a full arch

  • Single tooth: one implant and one crown.
  • Several teeth: fewer implants supporting a bridge.
  • Full arch: fixed teeth on four or six implants. See All-on-4 / All-on-6.
  • Bone loss: bone grafting, sinus lift or tilted implants can often make implants possible.

Why digital planning?

Planning starts with an examination and an X-ray, which show bone volume, the nerve canal and the sinus. Combined with an intraoral scan, the plan can be transferred with a surgical guide, which is optional, and in suitable cases the implant is placed without cutting the gum.

Typical timeline

Bone integration usually takes 2–3 months in the lower jaw and 3–6 months in the upper jaw. If bone grafting is needed, this can be longer. For patients travelling to Adana this normally means two visits; see Your visit to Adana.

Before you travel

If you have a recent X-rays, you can send it via WhatsApp for an initial, general assessment. A definitive plan is made after an in-person examination.

Frequently asked questions

Is implant surgery uncomfortable?

It is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Mild soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards is common and usually managed with simple painkillers.

How long does the whole treatment take?

Usually 3–6 months from surgery to the final teeth, longer if bone grafting is required. The exact timeline is set after the examination and imaging.

Can I send my X-rays before coming?

Yes. Recent X-rays help with an initial assessment. A final plan always requires an examination.

Do you give prices online?

Treatment is planned individually after an examination and imaging, so costs are discussed once your plan is clear.

This page is for general information. Your treatment is decided after an examination and the necessary imaging. Timelines vary from person to person.
